Family Garden, Weybridge

This elegant property in Weybridge featured a striking contemporary house with expansive glazing overlooking a large lawn, yet the space immediately around the house lacked planting and seasonal interest. The brief was to frame the architecture with generous borders, introduce year-round structure and create a shaded entertaining space for warmer days.

Generous new borders framing the architecture of the house and terrace
Sweeping lawn beside the house with fresh planting adding seasonal interest

Flowing planting beds were designed to wrap around the terrace, softening the house and drawing the eye out into the garden. A contemporary palette of pinks, purples, greens and whites was complemented by the fresh yellow tones of spring euphorbias. Ornamental grasses were combined with hydrangeas, Physocarpus and architectural perennials, while evergreen Taxus balls and Pittosporum provide lasting structure and winter interest.

Bold planting and elegant structure transform a sunny lawn into a garden that feels both contemporary and inviting throughout the year.

A bespoke timber pergola forms the focal point of the design, creating a comfortable outdoor dining space for eight, with partially enclosed sides adding a welcome sense of shelter and privacy.
