Planting scheme for shade garden in Milford

Although receiving some sun for part of the day, the majority of this Milford garden is in deep shade and the client was struggling to find plants that would flourish. We took out some of the less suitable plants, finding homes for them in sunnier parts of the garden, or rehoming them entirely.

We then planned out new beds filled with plants that would appreciate a shadier spot, such as evergreen Viburnums for structure, Hydrangeas, cool weather grasses, and spring flowering perennials including repetitions of Brunnera and Tiarellas.

We bought mainly small plants to keep this garden particularly budget-friendly.

Two feature Acer trees were used to punctuate the planting and tired fence panels were hidden behind evergreen climbers.

Newly planted green shrubs

Apart from the Acers and a few larger shrubs, we bought mainly small plants to keep this garden particularly budget-friendly. They will establish quickly, usually catching up with bigger plants in just a few years.
