Country Garden, Farnham
Set on the edge of Farnham with far-reaching views across open fields, this wraparound garden had become overwhelmed by a handful of vigorous, overgrown plants.
The brief was to restore structure, introduce a more cohesive planting scheme and create a garden that celebrated its beautiful setting.
The project began by clearing tired shrubs and invasive perennials before enriching the borders with four tonnes of organic compost, creating healthy soil for the new planting to thrive.
Closer to the house, a soft palette of pinks, purples and whites combines salvias, hardy geraniums, Japanese anemones and penstemons, with Brunnera providing early spring interest. Three multi-stem Amelanchiers add blossom, light structure and increased privacy.
Along the sunny rear boundary, a dramatic 14-metre hot border bursts with reds, oranges and yellows. Rudbeckias, heleniums, kniphofias and geums are woven through generous drifts of ornamental grasses, creating movement, texture and a vibrant display that glows in the evening light.
